Snacks: During the day, I will allow the children to have a light working snack. This snack should be nutritious and easy to eat while we work. May I suggest fruit wedges, granola or cereal bars, or even dry cereal? A snack should not be a 30 minute mini-lunch or breakfast. If your child has special dietary needs or needs a late afternoon snack prior to going on the bus, please let me know. I am very flexible and accommodations are easy to make.
Water bottles: Please try to get a water bottle that has a “sport” nozzle that can snap close. We have had numerous spills with regular water bottles over the years. Water is recommended for good health and concentration and your child will benefit from having a water bottle in the classroom.
Birthday treats: Birthdays are really special days for 3rd graders. Unfortunately, due to the growing number of food allergies, birthday treats are not allowed at Tolland Intermediate School. If it is your child's birthday and you wish to send in something special, consider donating birthday pencils, extra supplies, or even a book for our classroom library that all of us can share. You may send in a special treat, but only if it is for your child.
Allergies: If your child has specific allergies, please let me know. I will inform other parents (if appropriate) that extra care needs to be taken when packing lunches or snacks.
