4th & 5th Grade Band
Things to know
Please contact your instrument rental company directly to request
a repair and a loaner instrument.
Small group instruction classes are held as pull-outs from the
UA Keyboarding/REACH block
On early release days, small group instruction will be held!
Large Ensemble meets one time per week
during the 2:40 to 3:10 p.m. WIN block
(Grade 5 Band - Mondays and Grade 4 Band - Tuesdays)
Materials list to bring to large ensemble and small group Band classes:
Standard of Excellence Book 1 for the instrument
Band folder with handouts
Instrument & cleaning supplies
a pencil
Bell covers (wind instruments)
flute music masks optional
and
a smile :)
Home Practice component:
Band students are expected to practice their instrument 60 minutes per week
to ensure success (10 minutes x 6 days; 15 minutes x 4 days for example)
Here are some tips:
*Make sure you have a comfortable practice area.
*Reward yourself for sticking to your practice schedule.
*Write down your practice minutes on your practice log page.
*Invite friends/family/dog or other tolerant pet to mini-performances!
*Play music with your Band friends.
*Play music you like and know well as warm ups.
*Remember to clean your instrument!

Please contact Mrs. Marchesani if your 5th grader is thinking of switching instruments. Private lessons outside of school or over the summer may be necessary to be ready for 6th grade Band with the new instrument.
