Third grade is a very exciting and rewarding year! Your child will master many new skills. The following web page is meant to offer parents important information regarding our classroom.

It is my strong commitment to do my very best to meet your child’s individual needs and to foster a love of school and learning. Please do not hesitate to contact me at any time during the school year with any questions or concerns.
Homework/Agendas
Homework assignments will usually be a reinforcement of a skill introduced in class. Students will have an assignment that will take about 10-15 minutes each in person school night, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, & Thursday. In addition they will need to read for at least 20 minutes and practice basic math facts for 10 minutes every night. They can read independently or with someone. To assist with the transportation and organization of homework assignments, each child has a homework folder and an agenda that should accompany the homework to and from school. Students will be responsible for recording assignments in their agenda. The agenda is an important tool for communication between home and school.
Snack/Water
We will have a working snack in school each day. Please send your child to school with a simple, healthy snack. Include napkins and a spoon if necessary.
If your child would like a water bottle, please get one that has a nozzle that can snap close.
Lunch/Recess
Lunch is in the cafeteria from 12:25 to 1:00.
Our class will have recess with friends from 2:05 to 2:35.
Book Club
The children will periodically have an opportunity to order paper back books from a book club. Please do not feel obligated to place orders. If you wish to place an order, please pay by sending a check made out to the book club. You may also order online and pay by credit card. I will send an activation code home with the book order forms.
Birthdays
We are happy to celebrate your child’s birthday with a song and good wishes. In keeping with our current food policy, we will no longer be sharing birthday treats as a class. Please feel free to send in a special treat just for your child on that day.
