Welcome to Mrs. Shearer’s

Third Grade Classroom
    Room 121

The following information should answer many of the questions you may have about my classroom.

 Notices for Home

Most of you registered for the digital backpack which substantially reduces the number of notices I need to send home. If you did not have the chance to register, see Mrs.Jablonski in the office to add your name to the list. Some notices will still be sent through the classroom mail system. These notices can be found in the front pocket of the green folder. Please check this pocket for field trip permission slips, picture day forms, lunch menus, etc.

Notes and Lunch Money

Please send a note if you need to make changes to your child’s transportation arrangements. You may also send in a payment for your child's cafeteria account. I will send the notices and payments to the office each morning. Lunch money for the day can be kept in your child’s desk.

 Lunch, Recess, and Snacks

Lunch is at 12:20 followed by recess at 12:50. We have a working snack at 10:30. Please send in a healthy snack that is easy to open and easy to eat. Also, we do have students with peanut and tree nut allergies, so fruit is always a good choice for a snack. I would prefer that you not send in juice because it makes a sticky mess if it were to spill. Bottled water is fine, and there is a drinking fountain across the hall for those who need a drink.

Unified Arts

The Unified Arts program follows a 5 day rotation schedule. This means that specials will no longer be linked to a specific day of the week. If school is canceled, we skip the special that was scheduled for that day. We will make up any missed specials at the end of the year.

 Scholastic Book Club

Throughout the year, students will have the opportunity to purchase books through the Scholastic Book Club. Flyers are sent home through the school mail and purchases are made online with a credit card. The books are delivered to my classroom. Scholastic sends me a free book for my classroom library when a parent places an order online. Ordering online is fast, easy, and secure.

Birthdays

Due to school policy, no food can be sent to school with your child to share with the class. If you would like to send in a non-edible treat (stickers, pencils, etc.), that would be fine. Please feel no obligation to do so.

Field Trips

Third grade students take many field trips throughout the year. Chaperones are not needed for every trip, but if you are interested in traveling with us, please check the chaperone box on the permission slip. I will contact those parents who expressed an interest.
